Games
Sport plays a significant role in the curriculum of the School. All Hurworth House pupils are involved in mainstream sports: soccer, rugby and cricket. Specialist staff are are available to promote skills and develop expertise. Regular competitive fixtures afford challenge and the opportunity to excel. The size of the School ensures that the vast majority of students will represent their School competitively at some point.
The less-gifted games player may well find their metier in one of the many other sports that we have on offer at Hurworth: tennis, taekquando, fencing, vollyball and badminton. The current Independent Schools' Association Under 16 champion is one of our pupils. .
One of our most successful activities is swimming. All children from Reception onwards take part in a weekly swimming session with specialist teachers at the Dolphin Centre in Darlington. We participate successfully in many local and national competitions.
