Pastoral & Discipline
AS A SMALL FAMILY SCHOOL, Hurworth House creates an atmosphere of mutual respect and creative responsibility where pupils are able to develop and work to the best of their ability.
There are high expectations of self-discipline and courtesy and a special value is placed on enabling pupils to develop a caring attitude towards one another.
Our rules are created for the safety and well-being of every child, and are based on common sense and practical requirements. Our aim is always to achieve a balance between sanctions and rewards, and to create a positive environment which rewards good behaviour.
We aim to give every pupil in our care a firm moral basis to their life. This principle runs through every aspect of our teaching at Hurworth House School. Although the School is non-denominational, we believe that it is vital that our boys learn self-respect, integrity and concern for others and their environment.
Religious and moral education are taught as academic subjects up to and including GCSE level. The Junior School has a full assembly on Tuesdays and Thursdays. The Senior School has assemblies on Mondays and Wednesdays and there is a combined morning assembly every Friday.
